Blessed with hills, mountains, lakes and more than 8000km of coastline, Italy offers much more than Roman ruins and Renaissance art. Adrenaline addicts can get their fix in any number of ways: there’s mountain biking, climbing and skiing in the Alps, hardcore hiking in the Dolomites and horse riding in the Apennines; you can climb active volcanoes in Sicily and shoot whitewater rapids in Calabria. Less daunting, Tuscany’s rolling landscape offers tasty cycling.

On the coast, sport goes beyond posing on packed beaches. The precipitous peaks of the Amalfi Coast harbour a hidden network of ancient paths, while further north Sardinia’s cobalt waters boast some of Italy’s best diving. Windsurfers flock to the northern lakes to pit themselves against fierce local winds.

Looking for a buzz even stronger than that lethal Sicilian espresso that just blew your head off? Allow us to offer a few suggestions…
Wild off-piste skiing on the slopes of the Matterhorn

Some of Europe’s highest-altitude skiing is possible year-round in the Valtournenche Valley, dominated by the 4478m Matterhorn – described by English poet Byron as ‘Europe’s noble rock’. Not for the faint of heart.
Traversing the Dolomites along Alto Via No 1

One of four alte vie (high routes) through these spectacular peaks, the Alto Via No 1 takes you from north to south, and can be tackled in sections or in its entirety.
Peering into Stromboli volcano‘s explosive crater

Towering dramatically over the island of the same name, Stromboli’s permanently smouldering cone attracts amateur and expert volcano fans like moths to a flame.
Canyoning down the Sesia river in the Piemontese Alps

From May to September, the Sesia’s wild rapids are a magnet for action-junkies who like to make a splash!
Windsurfing among the champions on Lago di Garda

Could there possibly be a more picturesque setting to test your board skills than this dazzling lake?
Snowboarding the half pipe at Madonna di Campiglio

With its pretty village square, glamorous après-ski scene and formidable slopes, Madonna di Campiglio has a justifiable reputation as one of the Alps’ most desirable resorts.
Shooting the Lao river rapids in deepest Calabria

The most beautiful way to experience Italy’s largest national park, the Parco Nazionale del Pollino, is to go white-water rafting down the glorious Lao river.
Climbing the Apennines’ highest peak, Corno Grande

A surprisingly straightforward climb, this 2912m peak is popular with trekkers of all experience levels.
Diving in the spectacular waters off Ustica

Not all of Italy’s natural attractions are above-ground. Bring your waterproof camera, because Ustica’s underwater delights are impossibly photogenic.

The Old Town San Diego Park serves as a way to recreate
life in both the early American and early Mexican era
of 1821 – 1872. Perfectly situated in San Diego, the
park helps to recreate what was once San Diego. No
matter how you look at it, a trip to California isn’t
complete without a visit to the Old Town.

Around the five adobes of the main complex, there are
shops, a museum, and several restaurants. Around the
garden courtyard, the La Casa mansion helps to bring
back a taste of the Old Town. Just a short hop from
there, the museum is full of artifacts that help to
reflect on the life that was once the Old Town.

The Old Town also has a blacksmith shop, schoolhouse,
and several other historic buildings, including the
first newspaper office in San Diego. This is truly
a place to visit, especially for those who are wanting
to learn more about the history of San Diego.

The city of San Diego was the first Spanish settlement
in California. This occurred when a fort and mission
were established in 1769. Back in 1769, California
was just beginning to get established, therefore it
wasn’t near the state nor the size that it is today.

When visiting the Old Town Park, you should make sure
to visit the Robinson-Rose House Visitor Center. This
center is reconstructed now and displays a model of
Old Town and the way it looked back in 1872. The model
that is on display was created by Joseph Toigo.

The Old Town Park also offers exhibits of the way things
used to be, programs, and even guided tours. You can
get a personal tour of the park, with a guide who
will show you around and even explain things to you.

During your visit to the park, you can also enjoy a
picnic at one of the picnic areas or get something to
eat from one of many vendors. There are supplies here
as well, including restrooms.

Those living in San Diego can find the Old Town Park
on San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street. Being close to
the main city, visiting the Park is easier than you may
think. If you live in the city but have never been to
the park, you should stop by and take a look.

On a vacation or a visit from town, the Old Town San
Diego helps to bring back a taste of the past. There
is a lot to see here and a lot of historical value. All
you need to do is stop by the park and see what you
think about the way things used to be.

However, many people also keep their travel options wide open, looking out for recommendations or opportunities to travel to a specific destination. For this group, there’s an extensive list of resources to help explore future travel destinations – and to ultimately pick a locale that’s sure to result in an unforgettable holiday. One of the best ways to research a future travel destination is to follow word-of-mouth. Travellers are always willing to relay both good and bad experiences with regard to travel experiences, and some of the best adventures can come from following someone’s recommendation on a holiday destination, a hotel, or an activity. What’s more, with the wide range of travel sites online today, “word-of-mouth” can easily be sought out via the web. All you have to do is conduct a search for travel reviews online, and you’re bound to find a number of useful recommendations.Of course, travel magazines and books are still a great resource to refer to when seeking out a travel destination. You can find books that outline cities, countries, and even entire continents, enabling you to plan the perfect getaway in an ideal locale. Similarly, there are a number of travel magazines that are constantly covering the hottest destinations to travel to. So if you’re a fan of travel, it might be worth subscribing to a few of these magazines. Finally, you’ll find a wealth of information on travel through travel shows on television. There are a number of TV shows dedicated solely to travel – whether focusing on holiday destinations, cultural allures to be found in such destinations, or activities to partake in while visiting a specific locale. Plus, you can usually access all or most of these travel channels and shows through a satellite television service, like Sky HD – so you can benefit from various types of travel shows at once. So, if you haven’t already decided upon your next travel destination, begin by seeking recommendations from other travellers, looking on the web, searching through books and magazines, or watching travel shows. With so many reliable resources on travel tips, you’ll know where to travel next in no time.

Father’s Day is not that far away, and it’s never too early to begin thinking up a great gift idea for your dad. When you think of buying gifts for your family, who do you think is most often the hardest person to buy for? Most people would probably answer: their father. He is the guy that has everything. If he doesn’t have it, well, he thinks he doesn’t need it. If he needs it, he buys it. This can make shopping for dad downright impossible. Everyone wants to feel like they are spending their money wisely when they buy someone a gift. Likewise, they want to know that the person they are buying for is genuinely going to enjoy their gift and use it. This leaves limited options when it comes to dads. So what comes to mind when you think of your father? How does he like to relax? Is he a sports fan? A world traveler? An outdoorsman? No matter what his interests are, satellite television might be just the gift you have been waiting for.

With satellite television, you have consistency in your programming. Whether you live in downtown Manhattan or rural West Virginia, you will have access to all the same great channels. The same is not true for cable television subscribers. Cable is different depending on the area that you live in. You might be lucky enough to live in an area that has a great selection of cable providers and cable channels, but not everyone is so lucky. With cable, you never know what you are getting. Most areas only have one cable provider and if it’s not very good, you’re still suck with it. That is, unless you want to switch over to satellite television. With satellite TV, you know what you are getting all the time, no matter where you live.

If your father is the sports fan type, there are tons of great channels for him to enjoy. He can go big with a package like the NFL Sunday Ticket or MLB Extra Innings, or he can stick with the regular programming and still watch his favorite sports in beautiful high definition. If he is the traveling type, he might enjoy channels like the National Geographic channel, the Travel Channel, or the Discovery Travel Channel. The outdoorsman in him might enjoy the programming of Animal Planet or the Discovery Channel. No matter what your father’s interest is, rest assured that he will find something that he will enjoy with satellite television. With hundreds of channels to choose from, it would be shocking if there weren’t a few that fit him to a T.

Shopping for dad can always be a challenge, but this year you have an edge. With a subscription to satellite TV you’re giving him something that he can enjoy all year round. Other gifts give out at some point or another, but this is the gift that will keep on giving.

Insurance is ‘Protection against future loss’. That’s the textbook definition; Synonymous with indemnity. But in real life it is the promise of reimbursement in the case of loss, paid to people or companies, who, concerned about hazards, have made pre-payments to an insurance company. This article is regarding Travel Insurance, which is an attempt to minimize the financial risks, which can crop up, due to unpredictable circumstances while travelling(traveling).

Although there are different types of Travel Insurances, with different specifications, we can broadly distinguish them as ‘Single trip insurance’ and ‘Annual multi trip insurance’. Even though both the types are very popular, they do have their drawbacks.Annual Trip Travel Insurance is advisable for frequent fliers. It covers multiple trips taken during a span of 1 year. This scheme is usually taken by international businessmen, families, and people who love to travel.

                Related Coverage

                 Travel Insurance

Are you planning a long vacation abroad or within your country? Splendid! Have you ever though that Travel Insurance? Travel Insurance

Planning your annual holiday trip is important to most of us as it is the time when we take time to look after ourselves after working hard all year long. Some of us travel more frequently and whether you are planning a single trip or have more than one holiday per year you will probably want to make sure you have adequate travel insurance cover in the unfortunate event that you need to make a claim against your travel insurance. Unfortunately many people often forget to buy travel insurance before they go on holiday and it is not until you run into problems that you realise how important. Travel Insurance

If you have any kind of problem while abroad, whether it is a medical emergency, an accident where you damage someone elses property, or have some of your belongings stolen, it can cost a fortune to sort it out. For example, an air ambulance from the East coast of the USA could cost you the thick end of fifty thousand pounds. Travel Guide – Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is probably one of the most overlooked aspects of preparing for a trip. Getting the right insurance cover is very important. When you have this type of insurance, you don’t have to worry about getting last minute insurance cover, when there’s an emergency. On the other hand, Single round trip insurance is cheaper and is a better option for people who plan their trips. If you’re a student and planning to backpack across Europe, get yourself a Single round trip insurance. Nowadays insurance companies even give discounts on group insurance. And of course, if you’re a honeymoon couple looking to explore the scenic pastures of Switzerland, get yourself insured.

Other special schemes are there for Senior citizens, and Families. One notable insurance cover is the Extreme sports insurance. This type of insurance covers dangerous adventure sports like skiing, scuba diving, white water rafting etc. Although there are not many providers for this insurance, you can still talk to your insurance agent and convert your existing plan to cover these trips too. But understandably, the premium would be excruciatingly high.

Now let’s get to terms that are usually covered :
1.Emergency Repatriation and or evacuation – It is the act of returning to your own country, due to any reason.
2.Medical expenses incurred due to injury during the trip.
3.Death or disablement due to injury while travelling.
4.Overseas funeral.
5.Expenses incurred due to cancelled or delayed flight.
6.Loss, theft or damage to personal possessions and money.
7.Delayed baggage.
8.Personal legal assistance.

Now let’s see the terms which are usually NOT covered :
An illness or a disease with which a person is suffering from, before he/she buys the policy.
Deliberately putting your life in danger – Does that mean eating Octopus on a trip to China could be dangerous? Well, I haven’t done that yet, but I’m sure my insurance will cover it, if I choke on an octopus (God forbid) and need emergency treatment.
Claims involving alcohol and drugs – That means you cannot tell your insurance agent that you lost your wallet in Goa, because you were binge drinking.
Claims involving ST D’s like AIDS.
Illegal activities – Like medical expenses for getting shot in the leg, while trying to cross into China, will not be covered by the policy. Wow. That one is actually true.

Now the most important part before choosing a policy is to check :
Exclusion – Clauses not covered in your policy.
Deductibles – The amount you need to pay for each claim.
Pre-existing health condition – What I came across online is that a lot of insurance companies are luring customers with a ‘No medical check-up’ clause. Be thorough in your research and find out what exactly does it mean, before getting an online insurance.
Make sure the insurance company is licensed by the state insurance department.
Does the policy cover natural disasters and what are the restrictions?
What assistance is provided in case of medical emergency/evacuation?

Don’t just believe the hype or buy a policy your aunt had bought. There are many websites which give you price quotes by different companies, and compare them for you. One such website is InsurancePandit.com, which I found very helpful. Be safe, and get your trip insured.
